In the Wind
By Jay Eighmy, Installed 2009
Jay Eighmy shapes sculptures that are alive with movement and Inner grace. His work focuses on the transformation of hard stone to the gentle celebrations of the human form. Eighmy approaches his art with a love for nuance. He is fascinated by the secrets behind a slight shift in posture, by the variations in mood that we feel at different times of the day. He is curious but never intrusive. His work invites our involvement, yet we are careful to respect the quiet, private moment that each piece embodies.
Eighmy’s pieces clearly reflect a joyful artistic Independence. Collectors of his work will readily note this new Expression of freedom. Yet they will also see his new works as a Natural extension of his long-nurtured style. Studies at Colorado State University and intensive apprenticeships were followed with sustained pursuit of aesthetic excellence.
