Big Wish

Big Wish sculpture

As far back as I can remember I have been an artist.  When I was little I remember watching my dad sketch a cartoon of Donald Duck and I was hooked by the magic. I was involved in academic drawing in junior high and high school and recieved a talent grant scholarship to attend college. After recieving my BFA, I moved, by pure chance, to the sculpture rich town of Loveland, Colorado. I like to say that I came to sculpting through the back door, because that is what happened. I worked in the foundry process for several years and began experiencing the medium from the back to the front. I believe this experience was invaluable as it taught me not only about the complicated process, but gave me insight to the many possibilities. My sculptures evolved out of this knowledge and allowed me to push the boundaries. I’m proud to be a part of the bronze tradition established in Loveland. My career has spanned over 30 years and I am grateful that I became an artist that thrived in this location, in the heart of a tradition of excellence.

My work is best described as narrative. I intend each story to have a dual meaning.  The first is immediate and the other exists within a deeper, personal intrepretation. I often use humor or emotion to spark a sense of identification for the viewer, while the second story resonates from a source of shared humanity. I believe that the most enduring art contains an emotional content and an individual style. I infuse my compositions with a dynamic sense of motion. My signature style includes the use of deep texture. I strive to create a sense of energy and direction through the use of these textures.
